As you mentioned, the statute of limitations on credit cards is 4 years in California. The SOL is calculated from the time that the debt originally went delinquent, which would be approximately the month of your first missed payment. Note that SOL is NOT calculated from the date on which a credit agency was first sold or assigned your debt. What's your best estimate of the date on which you *first* went delinquent on the account? Was it within the past 4 years? Credit Reports will will have this info on them, provided that it happened within the past 7 years.
