Through personal experiences I can tell you that settled is a major blow and looks just as bad as a BK. It is called a profit/loss and it automatically brings a red flag with it. Some places like citifinancial will not give you even a $1 loan with a settled cc. My cc from 5 years ago that was settled still haunts me today.
