Why Chat's SOL Letter

I recently began getting calls, letters from CA regarding an old account. I live in California and it does not appear on any of my credit reports. I know its past the SOL (4yrs) but I do not know who the original creditor is as I had several charge-offs back in 1995-'96 and they tacked on so much interest I cannot tell from the balance. How do I find out who the original creditor is so I can send them Why Chat's SOL letter with the proper info ie. DOLA and so forth?
