Car repo in 98 can they collect now?

My husband and I got married 2 yrs ago. He had a car repo on him in oklahoma in March of 98. Now a 3rd party is trying to collect. We now live in Az. They are telling me they are gonna put this on my credit when I didn't even know him at the time. His ex wife turned the car in then went bankrupt. It is under her bankrupty but they say it doen't matter. Can they put it on my credit and is the SOL up?
