Apparently,reading between the lines, your wife made arrangements with a debt counseling/ccc/debt repair company of some type.

This company, (most are rip-off scams) did not pay on the account they were supposed to pay on (HFC?).

HFC turned over the account to one of the many scumbag lowlife collection agencies, who are now illegally harrassing your wife.

Have your wife pull her credit reports. See which CA is reporting the collection. Send them a cease and desist CRRR.

In addition, if there are other accounts supposedly being taken care of by her "credit negotiation" company, send them cease and desists also.

If you hav paid advance fees, and received no accounting or response from the "credit repair" company, check to see if they are licensed in your State.

In addition, if the debts are "old" last paid on to the original creditor prior to the time limit for your State (SOL) they are no longer legally collectible.
