I have a one collection account (from 3/02) for $1200 that has to be paid before I can refinance my home. Since I have to pay if off anyway, does anyone know where I can get a good sample settlement offer letter I can send to the creditor to make sure I cover all crucial issues, like negotiating a favorable credit rating, confirming whatever I pay will be considered payment in full so they do sell the balance, etc. I just need to make sure I cover everything to protect myself.
