Yes, it CAN happen and does. However, if no payments have been made on this account in EIGHT years, unless you're in RI, the SOL has expired ! We'd need to know your state to know what SOL applies, regardless of who's name is on the account now. You'd need to send WhyChat's expired SOL Cease and Desist letter, certifed, RRR, and get rid of them.
