Where does the FTC define what is required to validate? I understand this to be something of a gray area, lacking explicit definition. If I'm wrong, please point me [ and tryin2 ] to the reference.

You made a good point on the SOL - it would almost certainly need to be before Nov 97. Now we need to know if the state considers the starting point - last charge, last payment, first delinquency...And, as Why Chat notes it's a little trickier as it's 1997.

As for the validation letter, I don't think you should send another - They have enough to validate you unless you intent to deny that the signature is yours. Concentrate on the gathering evidence to establish that you are beyond the SOL.
