Firstly - the SOL letter sounds like the best bet from what I've read in Why Chat's posts. This validation discussion is rather academic...

I agree - the double account is bogus and makes them look like crooks. I would hold onto it JUST in case they tried to bring suit against you. At a minimal it misleads you about the amount of the actual debt, which falls under the definition of unfair business practices in the FDCPA.

I personally think a good, clean accounting with signed receipts would go a long way in front of a judge, but the itemization tryin2 has described does not exemplify good accounting.
