when CRA is given reason to believe (by consumer) that source creditor's verification may be unreliable, responsibility of CRA to investigate is triggered, and CRA can no longer rely merely on info. provided by creditor in performing it's 1681i investigation. Cushman v. Trans Union, still good recent law good to remind TU of their duty to conduct impartial investigation after consumer informs CRA of likelihood that source info is unreliable. also good for consumer to provide some evidence (whatever you got) that should reasonably casue CRA to believe that source is unreliable good luck, CRA = pain sometimes ;)
