Had car repossessed a week ago. After obtaining the
loan for the vehicle, finances changed due to circumstances totally beyond our control. Had been
making an honest attempt to make payts but did fall
behind. Car was repossessed. Finance company will
not work with us. We could not even find out who
repo'd the car for 3 days....then he was out of town
and had our keys with him (that was Monday). We were
promised we could have our belongings back on Tuesday
and no later. On Tues he tried to say it was not
possible to do it that day. After threatening to
take legal action, he agreed to meet us at a specified
place at a specified time to transfer our personal
property back to us. We were there...only to find
out that he could not get the property out of storage
but HE HAD THE PURSE BELONGING TO US WITH HIM, NOTHING
ELSE. Is this legal? Has anyone been successful
in working out things with a finance company so that
the inevitable (bankruptcy) will not have to happen?
What can we do about getting the personal property...
and what rights does the repo company have as far as
carrying our personal belongings with him in his
vehicle???? Please help. I am frustrated...and
desparate.
