Unfortunately, other than in Cal.(under State FDCPA) There is no protection for you under the Federal FDCPA for actions of an original creditor.It only covers 3rd party collection agencies. I do not know if a licensed repossession agent would be considered a 3rd party collection agency, but I do not believe they would fall into that catagory.Look for other types of consumer protection for you AND your parents under BOTH State's consumer protection agency sites.
