Can anyone tell me if Federal Retirement Benefits can be seized as a result of a law suit; i.e. from a checking or savings account after direct deposit. I know that Social Security Benefits can not. Facing possible law suit from creditor and attorney says not to file BR because Federal Retirement Benefits are not garnishable and that is my only source of income. All other assets fall under exemptions of state.
