Herein lies the problem with doing ANYTHING over the phone with a CA, they will screw you over EVERY time. Once you pay it this way, it will show as 'settled' on your credit report.. might as well say 'bankruptcy' as its about as bad !

If you expect a CA to be held to any kind of agreement you MUST do it in writing ONLY. You must send all correspondence Certified, RRR, and you must get signatures and have all that in your hands before you pay them a single cent.
