It seems that the CA doesn't "own" the debt. I don't see how they could agree to deletion on behalf of the original creditor, only for their collection record.

Is it being reported by both the CA and OC on your credit report? If it is only being reported by the OC, I would demand a letter from the OC reflecting the deletion with payment.

I think there would be an excellent chance that the OC would still report it as LadynRed stated, "settled".
