RMA Question

I wonder if anyone has ever heard of a creditor doing this. I just received a call from RMA concerning a credit card debt that had disability ins. on it from 1994. I lost income and started the disability ins. RMA says that I now owe 8 thousand dollars on the card. I promptly asked him to send me proof that I owe the debt, etc. The guy on the other end of the phone, says that all he can send is a print out stating I owe 8 thousand dollars, because they have nothing else on file concerning this debt. They called me a month prior to this and I told them that I had no intentions of paying of a debt that I do not believe that I owe. The operator I just spoke with reminded me of this conversation trying to get me to talk with him. I just asked again for him to send me written proof that I owe the debt, he said that he couldn't and I told him "have a nice day.!" then hung up.
Has anyone else ever had a debt collector admit that they have nothing on file concerning debt validation, etc.

Thanks,
Bob
