On a debt this old??? Get serious. They buy these and then try to collect when the statute of limitations has run. The people who read THIS board will show up in court and tell the judge. So if the debt purchaser/collection agency DOES manage to prove the debt belings to this person, they will also provide that person's defense for them. The statute of limitations has run. The debt is uncollectible - unless of course, the consumer doesn't know any better.

Why do you suppose the law provides for a statute of limitations????????? In one state it is illegal to attempt to collect on an out of statute debt. Why do you suppose that law was passed??? These out of statute debt purchasers are parasites. No decent attorney would ever sue for an out of statute debt. The lawyers who do this can't make it as real lawyers, they only want cases where the defendant doesn't show up. Judges get mad when they find out what is going on. Consumers are getting educated about their rights.

Don't listen to this crap, folks. He doesn't want you to know your rights. he wants to threaten you and have you so embarrassed and scared that you pay when you don't have to, when the law says they should leave you alone. He wants people who won't go to court when they get sued, so he can get default judgments.
