Hello All! I am new to this board and was hoping that you could give me some advice/info on issues with my Sears account. My account with them is over 120 days past due and I believe that they will probably past it to a collection agency soon. From everything I have read, they will probably send it to RMA. My balance currently is almost $5000. What I want to do is save up some money and make a deal with Sears/RMA to settle for a smaller amount. Questions though.....how long do you think I have before they attempt to "serve" me papers to appear in court? From the posts I have seen, it looks like most people were not served until years later. Has anyone ever been "served" within a year of going into collection? My other question....has anyone successfully settled with Sears/RMA and managed to get the negative marks removed from their credit report? I don't want it to be listed as settlement on my credit report because from what I have been reading that is just as bad as stating "collection". Any help or advice anyone could give me would be wonderful....thanks for your help. :)
