Yes, the CA can report the same debt in your credit history. If you are not disputing the debt, have an entry placed in your credit file regarding the original account stating that it was sold to XYZ Collection Agency. At least that way, in terms of $$ amount it doesn't look like you have more credit extended to you than you already do.
