You should file an answer without admitting to the claim.
Whereever you have NO knowledge of something, for instance when you opened the account, what you charged, date of last payment etc. say -no knowledge.UNLESS you have your OWN complete records to verify. At the end,in the comments section, you can state that you will appear to defend yourself, unless you can obtain assistance from legal aid, and that you have no assets, and all of your income is exempt.Call legal aid and see if they can help, if they can't get the name of the person you spoke to so you can demonstratein court that you are telling the truth.

Your lawyer "friend" may have done you a disservice by stating that what they sent you is satisfactory validation. The laws in the FDCPA and TILA are not usually familiar to most lawyers. Did it include a copy of your signed application? A COMPLETE accounting (with dates) of all charges, interest, payments, late fees and adjustments?A copy of THEIR authority to collect? A "mini-miranda" on their correspondence to you?

What is showing on your Experian credit report as the date for the removal of this account?

WHO is actually filing suit? Do not post the name and address here, but you can e-mail Linda or me with the data. Are they a licensed CA? Being a licensed lawyer does NOT allow them to legally collect as a 3rd party agent.

You are giving up-giving in to a collection agency who WANTS you to be afraid.
