If the CA is not harrassing you,and you are beyond the legal time limit for being sued,it is simpler to get the account removed from your credit report IF you DON'T pay the collection.

Once you pay, or even worse, settle, it will stick like glue.

In addition, if you try to settle with one ca, no matter what you attempt to do they will likely sell the unpaid balance to another ca who is not bound by any "agreement" and will report as a new collection account.
