I assume this has had a bad effect on your ability to get credit. Did you have to pay more interest on the loan? Or did you maybe not get a loan at all?

If so, you might want to consider taking this to a good consumer attorney, since it has most likely caused damage to your credit. Might as well force these CRA's who really don't care whether they ruin your credit or not (perhaps I should say they prefer to ruin people's credit), to reimburse you what it has cost you in interest and headaches.

If you don't want to do that, perhaps a stonrgly worded letter to the original creditor, stating your intention to turn this over to an attorney will get their attention. Send it certified, RRR mail, and give them a reasonable time to respond. This is called an "intent to sue" letter, and you have to tell them what you want them to do - PERMANENTLY remove the entry from your credit report, at least.
