CA SOL is in Code of Civil Procedure 337. If you incurred the debt in a state wih a shorter SOL and moved to CA, PC 361 bars civil action. If you left CA after defaulting, the clock stops until you return (PC 351). I presume this is not small claims. My company got sanctions against an attorney that filed in Superior Court on a 5+ year old issue. The written contract had an arbitration clause that stated the demand had to be made within 6 months. If they did not act in time, they did not have the right to either arbitrate or litigate.
