Nick, the first thing you should do is pull out your credit report online, with one of the three major credit bureaus. That way you will know exactly who you creditors are and what are the exact amounts of money owed. 1- You may find after 2 and a half year that some accounts were closed, and written off as "profit and loss" (please WHY CHAT confirm this) by your creditors. As far as I know, such accounts you WOULD NOT have to pay anymore as they are written off, although you could if you want. 2- You may find accounts which are still open, and placed for collection. Those ones you would have to pay. Yet, as you live abroad, it would most likely be your choice wether to pay or not, as the creditors couldn't do anything to force you doing that. (Please WHY CHAT, confirm this also) 3- You would definately have to UPDATE your address on your credit report, so it is not sent to your old addresses, and opt-out of commercials with the three major credit bureaus so no free offer would be sent to your former address. The three bureaus have online dispute system which would allow you to do that. I also live abroad Nick. For your info, here is what I did: I have settled the bills with the creditors I owed money to, because this money I used. I have opted-out of the three major credit bureaus so I wouldn't receive any commercials to any of my former address. Hope that helps. I hope WHY CHAT can confirm most of this. Cheers, STEFAN.
