$6.50/hour :p. here's an insider for you guys...Penncro in Hilo, HI is the hardest working branch in the company yet our collectors get paid the least. we always come out with #1 production. we make most of the outbound calls that you get and we suffer through the yelling and hang ups :p. the other branches make some outbound calls but take mostly inbound calls...thats when you call in to set up an arrangement. they make all the money and thus get paid more than we do. this job does have some perks. you get to use a cool alias when pitching the debtor (not really...i hate my alias name) and i have made lots of friends working there and like i mentioned earlier, i have more knowledge of credit than before. i had no idea what charge offs where until i saw the damage. that made me go straight to capital one and pay off my balance! now i never use my credit card without knowing that the funds will be in my bank to pay off what spent. rob my friend, i appoligize for all the phone calls but we have no way of knowing that you were defrauded, we just get the accounts loaded automatically and take it head on! if you get any calls and you were or feel you've been defrauded, don't be curt with the collector. explain the situation and ask for a cease communication and give your reasons why. the collector will understand and stop the calls. (we cant stop the calls for more than 2 days so if you want us to call back in a month, policy forbids us to do that unless you are the debtor and WILL set up an arrangemnt, give the collector your checking info, and promise to call back or have them call you.) check with your creditor right away and ask them for a free copy of your credit report from either equifax, transunion, or experian. if you are a liar and say you were defrauded when you weren't, a cease communication is still possible however, you will be looked over by the creditor and they will extract the funds from you involuntarily. collection agencies are there to help you and no, we will not stop calling on sundays :p. they way i see it is...no matter what day, you still owe the debt, might as well pay a little on it. if you are concerned about the times we call...it is 8am-9pm debtors local time. this follows FDCPA rules. yes, i do hate calling at 9pm for your money :p, but it comes with the job. so to everyone, be safe and happy credit to you!
