Your sister is mistaken, there is TOTAL homestaed exemption in Tx and NO wage garnishment.

If they do file suit, you need to appear and request complete proof of all accounting and costs,as well as a copy of your application and a statement from the OC that the interest charges are in accordance with Tx legal interest rates.

If they do get a judgment, you should make sure you file with the court a statement that your bank account is for household expenses an/or the income is exempt from garnishment, OR open a joint account with someone you trust (NOT your sister) with their name as primary.
