I just looked at my credit report, and I have thousands of questions! 1 - I have been a customer with Illinois Power (electric company) since 1994. Since then, I have twice had service shut off for non-payment. Both times, I repaid the outstanding amounts at a later date. Each time this happened IP issued a new account number. Now, my credit report shows three accounts with Illinois Power, two as bad, with one saying still outstanding, and one in good standing. In order to have your electric on in Illinois, your IP account must be in good standing. What can I do about the old "accounts" to get them off my report and shown as paid? 2 - I have a judgement against me for a car repo that I paid through Garnishment. Shouldn't this drop from my report? 3 - I have two accounts - Fingerhut and Nextcard - which are no longer in business. How do I find out how to pay on these? If I pay them, will they come off of my credit report? 4 - I have student loans, in GOOD standing. They are all listed as never missed a payment, never late. However, they are listed in about ten different sections, or loans, even though its the same school, just different terms. Will this affect my credit as too many open accounts? If so, how can I get them "all in one?" Thanks for the help!
