If the judgment is in his name alone, and not in both your names, you need to make sure you have a joint bank account with YOU as primary, that way when he gets an interogatory/discosure (questionaire about assets) h is nly required to state the things that are in his name alone. If your cars are owned jontly and financed it would be almost impossible to put a lien on them, however, sometimes they do try, so you need to make sure you have a statement filed with the court that your husband is head of household and the cars are jointly owed and exempt from seizure. It is true it is almost impossible to garnish someones pay who is self employed, but if he has any assets in his work tat he owns, and they are beyond the exempted amounts, they may try.

Your best bet is to appear and question every single thing in the claim, from the dates to the amounts to the interest charges. Make sure you request a FULL accounting of the fees charges and interest.
