How would that work if they're in a different state than I am? This company is in New Jersey and I'm in Ohio. Would they still be able to garnish? I thought that they could only take a percentage of your net pay and if taxes hadn't been taken out yet, how can they determine what to take? They could very well end up taking more than what they would be entitled to take then, because after taxes were paid, the net could very well be low enough to be exempt.

What if I was working part-time as an independant contractor for two different companies? Could they both be served with a garnishment order? I just hope no one makes a move for a while so I can get situated and get it rehabbed.
