No, no judgements that I know of. And with student loans, I'm pretty sure they notify you when they are going forward with garnishment...gives you another chance to make payment arrangements. If I ever did have a judgement entered and had to file a "discovery", it would be extremely easy....no assets, no bank account. The only thing that could possibly go on there would be a job. I just wanted to find out if garnishment was possible on an independant contractor and if they could do it if I was in one state and the employer was in another state.

I guess as long as I get some sort of payment arrange set up as soon as I can, I should be okay. I haven't heard from the CA since around the end of October 2002, so I don't even know if the account is still with them or not. I may have to wait until someone sends me another collection letter about it, which hopefully won't be for a couple more months.
