Uh Oh. I have big problems. When I was 19 my father allowed me to use his info to obtain a credit card. When I filled the information out I put in his ssn and signed for him, thinking that because he said it was okay, to do it. I had some personal problems and have not been able to make the payments and started getting calls at work every day from a collector. I asked that he did not call me at work, to no avail. Now he is is telling me that the cc company has placed the acct in Charge off status and then he said that he was going to tell the bank to place a judgement against my father (who is now 80 and on Social Security). I had explained to him, I am willing to take care of this obligation. He said it is irrelevant because it is now fraud. I had the credit card since 1997 and made payments on time until recently. I also explained to the credit card company last year how this account was set up. They never said anything about fraud, they just kept accepting my payments. I would rather goto jail for fraud then have my father held liable for my mistake. Anyone have any clue as to what I can do at this point?
