I am looking for some possible advice on how to handle the following situation. A friend of mine (really a friend) is getting continuous harrassing calls from a collection agency/cc co. Her and her husband owe about 6k and were unable to make the payments for about 6-months (they never elected to buy credit protection so that is already out of the question. They called his mother's house so much and upset her that she gave them 2k to subside the situation for temp. Well that didn't work because they are still calling and are claiming they cannot accept payments and want the balance now. I explained to my friend that she has nothing to fear because even if this went to court they have no money no assests (no house or car,stocks,bonds...not even a bank account). My friends husband is self employed and makes very little money, never recieves a tax refund always has to pay to the irs. But she is still terribly worried, they have 2 children and the 2nd one is only 1-month old. The calls won't stop and the messages left are endless. They are able to make payments every month now about $ 50-60 but haven't because the company said they wouldn't accept them. Only balance pay off. Does any one have any advice?? Please help!
