I have had a really bad two years and I am lost in financial misery. Here is the scoop...
I live in SC and I have been laid off twice in the last two years. I am currently working but earning only a third of what I used to make. I also went through a divorce this past year and must pay $750 per month in child support. Now, I have accounts with AMEX ($11,000),CITIBANK($6000),MBNA($2000),TEXACO($1000),two accounts with CHASE($7000). On the average, I am 4-5 months behind on all my accounts. Everyone for the exception of AMEX has been very good with dealing with my financial problems by offering deferments, partial payments, etc. My credit rating has currently dropped to a 460. Now, NCO for AMEX is saying that AMEX is going to sue me since the debt is so much and I had better pay the full balance now...YADAYADA. I considered going into a debt management program for releif but, it seems they are not trustworthy and cause more misery than good. I would hate to file bankrupcy since I am still under 30 and I do hope to be financially secure again. I have explained this to all my creditors and that I am not dodging the balances, that I just a little more time to get back on my feet and resume the normal payments. Does anyone have any advice on how I could pull through this ? I thank anyone in advance....
