I believe you are confusing two different SOLs.

There is a SOL of 3 years from the time of first default on an account for any legal action to be filed.

Once a judgment has been entered, there is then a 10 year SOL for it to be in effect.

On your credit reports, there is a 7 year SOL (actually called a reporting period limitation) after which most derogatory information cannot be reported.

There have been no changes on any of these limits in NC, as far as I can see.
