You will need to have something that shows your income and your expenses. Don't underestimate your expenses - most people make this mistake. Its more than rent, car payments, utilities and insurance. Its EVERYTHING you normally spend money on in the course of a year - then divide by 12. Its dry cleaning, shoe repair, personal care (women have more in this area), regular auto maintenance, tires, gas, medical co-pays or anything not covered by insurance, car insurance, household maintenance (light bulbs, cleaning supplies, etc.), postage, shipping, and even b'day and holiday gifts, groceries, bank fees (check costs, atm fees, etc.). Think HARD.

Even though the household bills are in your husband's name, that doesn't mean you can't use the expense. Do all the bills get paid out of HIS paycheck ?? Use them anyway, even if you only claim half (and I would, its not unreasonable).

If you can use Excel, make up a spreadsheet, it helps.

Oh, and here's the link to that site I mentioned earlier that has the TN forms.
