I would NOT recommend ANY settlement company, they are bad news. They can't do anything that you cannot do yourself and save the fees on top of that. Many people have ended up being sued because of these places - don't chance it.

You can do it all yourself. The problem with working with original creditors is if you are not near charge-off, they will laugh at a settlement offer. The closer to charge-off, the more willing they are to settle. Some won't go any lower than 80%, others will go as low as 35%, most seem to bottom out at 50% while the OC still has it. You just have to negotiate wisely.
