A collection agency ( who refuses to give me it's name)contacted me about an alledged debt owed by me to Worldcom. In phone calls they refused to give me any information regarding this debt, like, for instance when was this debt supposed to have been incured and for what product or service. The only information that the person from this un-identified collection agency would give was that if I didn't send them a check by "Friday", then I would suffer the (un-specified) consequences. She refused to tell me what the bill was for or how to contact Worldcom.
Here's the kicker. About 2 or 3 months ago,I received a letter from the same address ( in Arizona ) about the same alledged bill. At that time, I was put into contact with Worldcom, where it was determined that Worldcom had no record of any services provided to me, and that their computer would be updated to reflect that I did not owe them any money.
My BIG mistake was not to retain a record of these correspondences. Also, the only time that I have had other than a company cell phone was for 1 year in 1997. I don't recall what company it was with, so it could have been Worldcom.
Anybody else having to deal with this Worldcom fiasco, I could use some help. Particularly, how to reach the right people at Worldcom.
