My wife and I are young with approx 10,000 in debt (medical, CC, Misc) to creditors. We have had the sheriff deliver a civil summons twice now for unpaid medical bills that we neglected to pay. These two summons do not give a date or course of action, but I am certain that a lien has been placed against my home. We have been given a run around by the creditor on what happens next. Will they try to take my home, or will it just be a lien that is there until I pay it off? Also, now I need to straighten my credit/debt as, clearly, I should have done long ago. Am I better off using a credit counseling service and taking the credit report hit, since my credit is probably poor already, or should I try to find credit card companys that might give me a 0% interest or check writing ability to play the "transfer the debt" game? I have never been late on my home or car, but my home is new and I have only approx $700 in equity to borrow against. Are there companys that someone can refer me to that might give $10,000 loan when the home doesn't have that much in equity? Thank you all for any help. Mark
