I have had the unfortunate pleasure of dealing with W&A on an account which I thought was cleared up a couple years ago. I did take out the credit card (Providian Natl Bank), but was stupid enough to trust an ex to pay off what we had bought for him. I don't have a problem with paying this account off, but I'm a little concerned about the collection efforts by W&A. As soon as I received the letter I immediately started calling the 800 # provided. It took me two days just to get someone to answer the phone and even then, I was really on a two way phone call. As I kept listening, I quickly noted that I was somehow "muted", but was listening to the W&A rep call upon his victims. I typed a few on the conversations, listened for a while and when I had my fill of rudeness, I again, started calling the 800 # to try and reach someone for discussion. I actually spoke with someone today, but they wanted my SS#, DOB, address, phone numbers, etc. Should and collector have all of this information from the account if they are trying to collect the debt? They stated that they are offering to let me pay half of the monies owed if I pay this by Feb 8, could this be for real? Debt is $1,677.04 amount to be paid that they are looking for is $838.42. I live in Missouri. Is there anyone to report what I overheard as a third party on the conversations?
