As "newbie" to this forum, I want to say thanks for all the folks who are so willing to help with the credit repair saga. I know that I have the knowledge and skills to do all of this myself, but the learning curve is rather large at this time AND I hesitate to do something that will really place greater negative on my CR's. I have several items that I want to "change" the reports on, but am unclear as to where to start. The 3 outstanding ones at this time are with Montgomery Wards (ca is Midland Credit), Providian (ca is RMA) and Fingerhut (ca is - I don't have it front of me). They all show collection even tho they are all beyond Iowa SOL. The "cleanup" process must start somewhere, but WHERE? I am not unwilling to pay ALL if several conditions can be worked out - remove ANY negative notions and remove ANY reference to a CA, including the CA itself. I ordered the book "Good Credit Is Sexy" by Kristy Welsh with the CD of form letters. I read that last night and got many ideas. But which one and how do I get this started. That is the MAIN reason I was looking at using Lexington Law. They must have the entire process reduced to step-by-step. I don't want to get into frivolous demands with the CRA's. If I dispute items will the CRA's conduct themselves in a business manner? I apologize for this lengthy folowup, but hope that someone may add some additional hints before I jump into this process. Thanks to all of you.
