Judgments show up on the PUBLIC RECORDS portion of our reports. When the Credit Reporting Agency [ CRA ] investigates a judgment, they contact the clerk of the court that reported the judgment to see if a record exists and if so, that it is being reported correctly.

The only way to remove the judgment from the public record is to have it vacated. I think you'd have a difficult time vacating a judgment that has been paid...by paying it, you've really reinforced it's validity.

What you're hoping for, by disputing the judgment on your CR is that the CRA will not take the time or effort to call the clerk of the court, but if they do, at least it will show up as SATISFIED.

DO NOT SEND THEM THE LAWYER'S LETTER. This will almost guarantee that the bad mark stays on full term.

Judgments and collections accounts are two different beasts...you can't negotiate public records off your CR. When was this judgment filed against you?
