Heres the situation. I had an First Consumer's National Bank Visa from 1996-1998 with my ex-husband. The account was charged off, DOL 08/1998. In 08/2001, I received a settlement letter from the Law Offices of Mitchell N. Kay. I was offered a one time settlement of $255.63 and my account would be considered settled. I accepted this offer. Here is where it gets confusing. Different information is being reported to different CRAs. TransUnion entry: Ist Cons Ntl 5421169104xxxx "Payment after charge off/collection" Both Equifax and the settlement letter give a different account number and the Equifax entry says "Settlement accepted on this account" and gave it an I1 rating. At one time, Equifax had the same account number that TransUnion is reporting, but I disputed it as "Account Not Mine" and they removed it. Unfortunately the correct information is now there. I have disputed this with TransUnion on three occasions and two times it was "Verified, No change" and the last time they updated that it was a settled account, but its still listed under deragatory information. I called FCNB this morning and they took down my name, address & SSN# and said they would mail me information within 30 days. The entry is scheduled to report until 2005 and I can live with that if I have to, but at least report the correct account info! Any ideas on how to fight this?
