99% of the time the FDCPA does NOT apply to original creditors. However, if you are not allowed to take calls at work, then even an OC is supposed to stop calling you there. The reasoning is that if they keep calling you at work, you could lose your job - no income = no money - no payments to anyone. Some states have their own version of the FDCPA and, as in CA, it binds OC's as well as 3rd party collectors.
