Not Why Chat but maybe I can help. The SOL refers to the length of time you can be sued by creditor. If past that time, the SOL is an affirmative defense and you would win any lawsuit.
However, derogatory remarks may stay on your credit report for 7 years {10 years for a Chapter 7 bk}.
