Southtrust-Please Help!!

While residing in GA someone wrote me a check which I put into my account and once it was clear I withdraw the funds. The bank then sent me a letter stating that the check bounced. Now the amount is on my Transunion and Equifax report. Is this my fault that the other party wrote a bad check. Why is it on my report? The bank is Southtrust. It is not on my Chexsystems report only on my credit report.
