My husband received a similar letter yesterday (threatening imprisonment, etc). 18mo-2yrs ago, he had a massive meltdown in his checking account because a deposit he made was bad. By the time he knew, he had checks out on it and they were returned. We paid all known bad checks, and he closed his accounts. Now we get this letter approx 2 yrs later, with no info about the original payee or check no. When we call, we cannot speak to a real person, only leave a callback no. I do not wish for them to call our home. What are your suggestions on how I can get this info otherwise. I want to pay if it's valid, but I have my doubts that no one would have contacted us before now on a valid debt.
