The OC has sent the account to an outside CA prior to charge-off - not unusual. So, since the OC has NOT charged if off yet, you should still be able to pay the OC. You can't do validation with an OC and doing so while its still basically an 'internal' collection won't get you anywhere.

You need to find out if the OC will accept payment from you, and they *may* be willing to deal for less than full payment. If you are a co-signer on the account, then there's no reason you can't do this.
