How do I find out if my state considers credit cards as open accounts?

Can anyone tell me where I could go to find something in writing that says my state (Virginia) considers credit card accounts as open end accounts. I am trying to figure out just what the statute of limitations is for credit cards (how long a card company has to file a judgement against me before the SOL is up). I haven't been able to find anything on my own. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
