Regardless of whether you are getting ready for a big purchase, or just curious about what others are saying, the answer to your question is a resounding YES! You should get your reports from each of the big three at least every six months and most definitely before applying for credit, such as for a car or home.

The respective webaddresses for the big three credit reporting agencies are: www.experian.com, www.equifax.com, www.transunion.com.

You will find address, phone and online info at each. There are ways of obtaining each for free, including signing up for a service and getting a "free trial."

Not all of the information listed on one will be on the other two. Thus always check all three.

Plus, you should always check your chexsystems report at the same time as well. If you don't know, this is a reporting agency that many banks use to get info about you before allowing you to open a checking account. They are online at www.chexhelp.com.
