I do not know if you either misunderstood the lawyers you spoke to, or if they were dealing with the Statutes from some other Country, however, anyone can find the laws for their own State by looking them up.

I have posted the State statutes for most of the States, including Ca on my website, in addition I have a link to the Ca FDCPA and a QUALIFIED Ca consumer lawyer.

Keyser is pretty much correct for the start of SOL, in MOST States it does start the first "delinquency" date, however, a FEW States start the SOL from the LAST transaction, charge or payment on an active account. In MOST cases this is the month prior to the first delinquency,in a FEW cases it may be a month or so later, for instance if an automatic charge on a credit card from --say a cable company-- or a purchase slipped through after default. OR if a payment was made that DID not cure the default to the ORIGINAL CREDITOR on an active open account.
